Key Stage 4:

The below data and information show the progress and outcomes of our students from the GCSE 2024 examination series. The data is not validated by the Department of Education yet.

Headline Figures:

  • 80.6% (216 students) of the cohort achieved GCSE passes at grade 4 and above in English and mathematics.
  • 53.4% (143 students) of the cohort achieved GCSE passes at grade 5 and above in English and mathematics.
  • The Attainment 8 (A8) score for this cohort is 5.05. This is an increase from 4.7 the previous academic year.
  • The Progress 8 (P8) score for this cohort is +0.23 (this is unvalidated by the DfE and is subject to change). This is the third year in a row the P8 score for the cohort has increased. 
  • The P8 score for our Pupil Premium students is +0.03. This is an increase of +0.59 from the previous year.
  • The P8 score for our SEND students is +0.03. This is an increase of +0.04 from the previous year. The P8 for EHCP students is +0.17 and for K code students it is -0.01.
  • 11.6% of the students were entered for the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) with 74% of those students entered for the EBacc achieving it. All students at Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College are given the opportunity to follow the EBacc curriculum if they wish.
  • 78.4% (210 students) of the cohort achieved five GCSEs at grade 4+ including English and mathematics.
  • 50% (134 students) of the cohort achieved five GCSEs at grade 5+ including English and mathematics.

 

A large proportion of the cohort (46% of students) continued their education at Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College’s sixth form studying A-levels and AAQ/BTEC qualifications, as well as being joined in the sixth form by a number of students from other schools. This has contributed to the biggest intake of students at the sixth form.

The careers guidance our students received as part of their studying of the personal development curriculum at Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College and additional careers guidance support has helped our students access apprenticeships and further post-16 study at a range of colleges within Trafford and Manchester.

The 2024 GCSE examination series was the third year of external examinations since the Covid-19 pandemic and the college’s 3 year trend of results is outlined below.

Key Stage 5:

 

The data below and information show the progress and outcomes of our students at KS5 in the 2024 examination series.

Headline Figures:

 

  • 29.64% of all grades achieved were at A*-A
  • 58.31% of all grades achieved were at A*-B
  • 59% of all students achieved at least one A grade
  • 31% of all students achieved grades ABB or above

80% of our Key Stage 5 students have gone on to undergraduate courses, with 1/3 of these being at Russell Group Universities.

A number of our students have secured higher and degree level apprenticeships with the remaining students entering employment or embarking on a GAP year.
